Holiday Party

With Christmas just a few days away, it's not too late to think about setting a beautiful table.  Last minute shopping at Goodwill is so convenient.  You never know what you'll find and it's always at a bargain.

I started with a vintage holiday table cloth.  Then I added some bright red chargers, that were between 99¢ and $1.99 each.

Then, I looked for dinner plates in a festive color or pattern.  I lucked out with these vintage holly dishes, only 99¢ each.

Next, I added more layers, with green glass bowls, which are actually relish dishes, but they’re perfect for soup or salad or an appetizer(Later you can use them for candy or olives).  The goblets are a perfect match.  Stemware is so elegant even if you’re only serving water or milk!

I made simple silver napkin rings more festive by simply adding a bit of holly berries to match the plates.  The napkin rings are so simple I can re-use them for another holiday!

Next, I took apart a candle ring that had seen better days. That's also why I never throw anything away; you never know when it can be reused.

I laid a length of garland down the middle of the table and added more berries.  Lastly, I gathered candles in various sizes.  Goodwill is a great source for old silver candle sticks, as you'll always find a variety of sizes at low prices.  There’s also no need to polish them up, as the patina gives them character.

If you’re hosting Christmas dinner or brunch, setting a festive table like this is another way to say "I love you" to family and friends.  Happy Holidays!
