A Chorus of Christmas Angels

The mantle is a great place to display your Christmas collectables, but if you don’t have a fireplace, a coffee table, shelf or end table will work just as well.

Design Tip 1:  The secret to creating a beautiful display is to group like items.

You can add to an existing collection or start a new one this season.  It’s so easy and not very expensive when shopping at Goodwill.

I found a lovely white porcelain angel and decided to look for more.

Design Tip 2:  Your collection has the most impact when you stick not only with a theme (angles), but a color or medium (wood, ceramic, etc).

In this case, I limited my purchases to ceramic or glass angels in white with a touch of gold.

Design Tip 3:  Be sure to elevate some of the angels. Use small boxes, dishes turned upside-down or even a napkin ring.

I started with a piece of gold fabric to cover the table.  Then I scattered gold star confetti and jingle bells around the angels.

The table looked great but the lamp looked a bit bare, so I added a big gold bow.

However, the display still needed one last thing—something against the wall.

I often see light fixture shades at Goodwill and finally found a use for them! This one with a white and gold design is perfect for my angel scene.

It’s so easy to re-purpose this glass light fixture. Next year you could use it to display ornaments or serve cheese and crackers! I would love to know what you decided to do with yours so feel free to send me an email or post to our Facebook page.
