Goodwill Store & Donation Centers Are ‘Going Green’ With Computers July 15, 2008
Goodwill Store & Donation Centers accept computer and computer-related accessories such as: hard drive/tower, monitor, mouse, keyboard and printer. "Our donors said they wanted a convenient place to donate no longer needed computers so we listened and responded," said Vicki Holschuh, vice president, Retail Services. Donors are responsible for removing all data before donating their computers. Some stores will sell the computer accessories. The computer CPU/hard drives themselves will not be sold, but will be salvaged, which will greatly reduce what goes into landfills. "We are very excited to partner with The Fortune Group, one of the largest asset recovery firms in the entire country," says Holschuh. "Just like Goodwill, they are dedicated to environmentally friendly methods of recycling."
