Who Can Enter
Contestants must be legal residents of southeastern Wisconsin (Counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Fond du Lac, Dodge, Rock, Walworth, Washington, Sheboygan, Racine, & Kenosha)
Employees of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin and Metropolitan Chicago and WISN 12 (“Sponsors”), and the immediate family members of those employees, are ineligible.
How to Enter
Part 1: To enter, contestants must submit a 200 word (or less) essay explaining why they are the BEST Goodwill shopper. If they are one of twelve selected and awarded a flip cam and $100 gift card, they must demonstrate via a two minute video, what Amazing Finds they can purchase with a $100 Goodwill gift card. Contestants must submit the essay between March 28, 2011-April 10, 2011 to www.amazinggoodwill.com, social@goodwillsew.com or mail to Goodwill/WISN Amazing Finds Video Contest, c/o Goodwill Industries, 5300 N. 118th Ct., Milwaukee, WI 53225. Contestants must provide name, phone number and an e-mail address or physical address where they can be reached.
Twelve (12) essays/winners will be chosen by Goodwill judges and announced on www.amazinggoodwill.com on Monday, April 11, 2011. They will also be contacted via email and phone. These 12 winners will win a Flip-Cam and a $100 Goodwill Gift card. These 12 winners will meet the Goodwill/ WISN team on Monday, April 18 2011 at WISN 12, 759 North 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53233 to receive the Flip-cams, Goodwill gift cards and instructions regarding Part 2 of the contest. Sponsors reserve the right to run a background check on winners before prize is awarded.
Part 2: The 12 winners must videotape themselves demonstrating why they are the BEST Goodwill Shopper and what Amazing Finds they found for $100 at a Goodwill Store & Donation Center. Video entries must not exceed two (2) minutes and will be edited down to 30 seconds. Video entries must be submitted to wisnsalesprod@hotmail.com by Friday, April 29, 2011. Contestants must keep their Goodwill receipts as they may be asked to verify that their purchase came from a participating Goodwill store in southeastern Wisconsin (see www.amazinggoodwill.com for a list of locations).
Part 3: The 12 video entries will be posted on www.amazinggoodwill.com where visitors can vote online for their favorite video. Voting begins on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 through Wednesday, May 18, 2011. The winner will be selected by a combination of on-line voting and a panel of judges. The winner’s video will air during the final episode of the Oprah Show Wednesday, May 25, 2011 as well as other prime time season finales that air from May 22nd through May 29th.
Sponsors are not responsible for error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or for technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of or failure to receive entry, winner or other contest information by Sponsor or entrants for any reason whatsoever. Sponsors are also not responsible for any injury or damage to any entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any materials in the contest or for entries that are late, misdirected or incomplete. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATIONS OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Sponsor reserves the right not to select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received.
The Prizes
Twelve (12) contestants will win a Flip-cam, and a $100 Goodwill Gift card. One final winner will be selected from the twelve contestants based on online voting and a panel of judges. Their video will air during the final episode of the Oprah Show Wednesday, May 25, 2011 as well as other prime time season finales that air from May 22nd through May 29th. This winner will also receive an iPad.
Other Requirements
Winners must complete and return a release and affidavit of eligibility, which must be received within three days of notification or they will be disqualified. If a prize notification letter is returned to Sponsors or their designated agents as undeliverable, the prize will be awarded to an alternative winner. Except where prohibited by law, submission of a contest entry constitutes permission to use winners' names, hometowns, likenesses, and photographs for on-line posting, and/or any advertising and publicity without additional compensation. By entering, contestants agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges. Contestants agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsors, their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize.
If grand prize winner does not timely return the release and affidavit of eligibility, the prize will be awarded to an alternative winner using the same criteria. Alternative winner will be selected by Sponsors. Sponsors have the right to disqualify a winner as a result of the background check or other conditions specified above, and to select an alternate winner.
Prizes cannot be redeemed for cash or substituted for any other items by the winner. The winner cannot assign or transfer prize. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a comparable prize of like or greater value, including cash, for any prize, for any reason.
The winners are responsible for paying all local, county, state, and federal taxes on prizes based on the estimated retail value of the prizes as set forth in these rules.
Only one prize will be awarded per household.
Odds of Winning; Miscellaneous
Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received.
This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. The Sponsors accept no responsibility or liability in connection with any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind caused by or resulting from the acceptance, possession, or use of any prize awarded hereunder.
