One of the best parts of summer is sitting on the back porch and listening to the birds chirp while enjoying a cup of coffee. It doesn’t happen very often, but I cherish those quiet early mornings before the hustle of the day begins. As a tribute to my feathered friends, I decided to decorate the porch with pretty birdhouses.
This project requires only four things:
- Wood candlesticks (You’ll find a selection at Goodwill for as little as 99₵.)
- Decorative birdhouses (I even found these at Goodwill. It really is an amazing place!)
- Spray paint
- Hot glue gun
The finish on one of the birdhouse I found was a distressed white. That just means some of the paint was sanded off to make it look old. I liked it enough to paint the other one the same way.
I had purple spray paint already in my stash, so that made the decision on what color to paint the candlesticks easy.
After the paint dried (which takes forever when it’s humid out!), attach the little houses to the holders with hot glue.
That’s it! Choose colors that go with your porch or home décor. No one says you have to limit yourself to two—make dozens! They never need cleaning.
