Where did the year go? It just doesn’t seem possible that 2017 is almost here. If nothing else, New Year’s Eve is another excuse to continue the celebration with family and friends. Our December 31st parties have changed over the years, but we’ve spent the last day of the year with the same friends. (I have visions of us all making too much noise in the nursing home someday!)
Once my Christmas decorating is done, I move on to the rest of my Christmas list. That means New Year’s Eve décor is a simplified version of a Christmas display.
I love clocks as an alternative to artwork on the wall. They’re available in many styles, shapes and finishes. My designer recommendation is the bigger is better. This giant French clock fills in the entire space between two windows, but what an impact it makes! Below it I have a vintage shelf with distressed paint.
My Christmas theme this year was purple, turquoise and hot pink. To make New Year’s Eve special, I added lime green to the mix. I actually found this floral spray at Goodwill. It always amazes me what I find there. It fits the shelf perfectly!
I glued more leftover purple ornaments to the center, along with some sparkly green balls and apples. Purple candles balance this simple and elegant arrangement.
Goodwill is a great source for crystal candlesticks in various sizes. I collect them all year, so I have a stash ready when I need them.
I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year!
