Hello everyone Rachel O. here and this is my first article for Goodwill! Insert your cheers, fist pumps and bright smiles here. I’ve been a Goodwill shopper for many years, so when the opportunity to share the great quality of merchandise presented itself, it was truly a dream job. I thought you might want to know how I became an avid “Thrifter.” For me, it all started in my childhood. I grew up in a family of six children, and on a Pastor’s salary, money was always tight. This was not a dilemma for my Mom because she came from a family of thirteen children! She knew what to do to live on a tight budget and thrift shopping was a big part of the plan. My siblings and I are all grown and living on our own now, so Mom really doesn’t have a need to thrift shop anymore, but she still enjoys a hunt to find a good bargain at Goodwill.
I must admit to you that I haven’t always been a fan of thrift shopping. In fact, in my youth I hated our family shopping trips to the thrift store, and I dreaded the very thought of my friends seeing me anywhere near the Goodwill. As an adult and Mother of three, the frustrations I had as a youth are still there albeit somewhat different. Shopping with kids can be stressful, add to that the necessary time needed to search for good quality clothing, and it’s enough to make anyone never want to do ANY kind of shopping!
As I got older, I learned to love “thrifting” because of the unique items for sale and I loved being able to stand out with such stylish and affordable clothing. If you are not a Thrifter you are missing out and spending way too much money on shopping elsewhere. Still undecided? Just take a look at all of the amazing items I found this week at Goodwill.
This is what I like to call #GoodwillGreat. Brand new, tags still on and a wardrobe staple. I love when that happens! Every woman should own a blazer. This one was not my size, but I loved the color and the tailored look of the jacket.
Here is another classic wardrobe item. Black dress slacks designed by designer Dana Buchman and priced at $4.99 might I add. You can’t beat that! All you’d have to do is take them to your local dry cleaners and they are as good as new.
I love color, so when I saw this jacket I almost did a cartwheel in the store, but unfortunately it was not my size. As I previously mentioned, you can really create a signature wardrobe by adding pieces that are really unique yet classic. This jacket says I’m ready for business but first let me out dress you. #GoodwillGreat
Every great outfit is not complete without shoes. Rain or shine Goodwill has you covered.
Lastly, don’t forget to check out the other areas in the store. Here’s a quick look at what I found in the home décor department.
